Archemenid Persepolis: Navroze Celebrations: By Geiv Narielwala


Navroze at the ceremonial capital of the Acaemenids- Persepolis.

The King of Kings begins the morning by consuming bowl of fresh milk.

Later in the day the King, with the ceremonial sword of state danced in the midst of his soldiers.

Throughout the day gift bearers from the subject nations bore gifts to the king…….led into the Throne Room by royal ushers holding the hand of the leader of each delegation. ..a sign of royal welcome.

The Apadana or throne room had the entrance to the east so planned that on this day the rising sun rays streamed into the mighty room directly falling on the throne.

Pictures here show Pheonicians bearing vases, the Indians with bowls of honey, the Bactrians a pure white highly bred camel, the Scythians their famous horses, the Lydian bearing highly prized rams.
